Tyne and Wear City Region Transport Strategy
The Tyne and Wear City Region spans a wide geographical area, encompassing the five local authority districts that make-up Tyne and Wear – Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside and North Tyneside – as well as northern Durham and southern parts of Northumberland, both of which have close economic and commuter ties to Tyne and Wear. A new City Region Transport Strategy is being developed that will set out the role that transport will play in driving long-term economic growth for the Tyne and Wear City Region, ensuring it cements its status as a great place to live, work and visit.
Admiral is working with the city region team to ensure stakeholder opinions form one of three pillars of empirical evidence that informs the resulting strategy. With this in mind the consultancy has developed and is undertaking a series of activities that maps current consolations and the gaps, identifying opportunities for consultation with new audiences in an effort to garner feedback from as many audiences as possible.

Thames Valley Road Safety Partnership
Admiral was contracted by the Thames Valley Safer Road Partnership from February 2010 to deliver a PR campaign incorporating social media, regional media relations and marketing support for their fatigue campaign ‘Have A Kip,’ with a specific target of driving traffic to the dedicated website and raising awareness amongst the target audience.
The Thames Valley Road Safety partnership’s campaign was devised to encourage a notoriously hard-to-reach audience to adopt behavioral changes which, in turn, would result in them making the decision not to drive when they are suffering from fatigue.
The primary targets were male drivers aged 17 – 25, particulary the Mosaic group classifications (D-H), who live in the Thames Valley. This area was identified as having a larger than the national average number of fatigue-related road accidents. The main aim was to reduce the number of fatigue-related deaths and injuries in the area by raising awareness of the situation and communicating key messages on how to overcome fatigue at the wheel along with positive behavioural messages.

Admiral was employed to raise awareness of the project and key initiatives aimed at improving road safety, engage local and regional road users raising awareness of safety risks, and offering practical solutions to combat problems/issues.
