The Client

easyJet is Europe’s leading budget airline offering flights to destinations across Europe. easyJet has always had a strong online focus going from two online sales in the first week after the website launch in April 1998, to 38% of all sales being made online in August 1999. By 2003 90% of all sales were online.

The Brief

easyJet tasked us with creating all their UK online banner ad campaigns. The briefs for individual campaigns varied widely but all had to be eye-catching and attractive while following their brand identity guidelines and complementing their advertising across other media. The adverts also had to communicate easyJet’s core values such as good value, consistency and reliability.

In a typical scenario we would be provided with an object photo from easyjet’s current print media from which we would conceive an idea, generate concept storyboards and work up into a full complement of banners.

The Solution

Working directly with easyJet we created thousands of banners, often with turnaround being measured in hours rather than days. The individual jobs varied greatly from developing concepts from scratch, adapting existing print adverts to an animated format, and working from storyboards provided to us.

Campaigns were often multi-language with pan-European distribution. More complex animations utilised technologies such as Eyeblaster and Flashtalking to create breakout, popup, and dynamically generated content. We have even created animations for digital signage on lamp posts, the London Underground, London Victoria Station, Milton Keynes Snowdome, and jumbo airport screens.

Spring Sale Butterfly

The object used in this Spring campaign was a butterfly. We were provided with the butterfly image and given free rein to develop the animated banner concept. We later re-purposed this animation for use on a jumbo sized advertising screen in Manchester.

easyJet Business

This was a series of banners advertising the easyJet business service. These concepts were developed from static poster designs.
